Welcome,

I'm Laurel Fujii, LCSW (she/her) and I'm a psychotherapist in North Oakland/Berkeley who specializes in trauma, burn out, and interpersonal relationships.

We may be a good therapeutic fit if: You feel like you don’t neatly fit into identity boxes (e.g., sexuality, ethnicity, religion etc). You want to dive deep on familial issues that your family doesn’t want to talk about. You’re really good at what you do, but you don’t feel like yourself. You’re questioning your role in a group or relationship. I welcome clients who have a range of familiarity with therapy, from no prior experience to years of weekly treatment.

With warm curiosity and humor, I use a psychodynamic approach to identify the root causes of distress and conflict. Through examining memories, we can better understand ourselves and how we got here, which can reduce distress and ease decision-making.

My clients often bring in issues related to grief, anxiety, racial identity, their career, prior and recent trauma, and, of course, family and friends.

My fee is $200 per 50 minute session. I accept cash, check, Venmo and Zelle. I have limited sliding scale slots and I encourage you to inquire if curious. My insurance slots are full. I offer in-person sessions in Oakland/Berkeley, and I can offer telehealth sessions for clients in California outside of the Bay Area.

I’m a yonsei (fourth-generation) Japanese American clinical social worker (LCSW) born/raised in the SF Bay Area. The families I come from grew and sold flowers, plants, peaches, almonds, and grapes. I worked for Veterans Affairs in Homeless Programs before pivoting to private practice psychotherapy. My northern light has always been storytelling and how we make meaning of being oppressed, othered, profited off of, and made to feel small.

If this resonates with you and you want to work together, the first step is scheduling a free 15 minute phone consultation that will help us determine if we’re a good fit. Complete the form below and I’ll follow up.

Clients of psychotherapy have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” so they can anticipate the costs of their treatment. This is part of the 2021 No Surprises Act and pertains to clients who pay out-of-pocket, rather than through their insurance, for psychotherapy. Please see https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises for more information.
